Modern kitchen design in black oak
Modern kitchen design is always challenging when the client wants a perfect fit with the rest of the interior. Our client asked us last year here in the showroom in Amsterdam to make a custom made kitchen and design that goes with the interior wishes and fits the style smoothly. We describe that interior as Bohemian chique, vintage modern or what thought goes with it. It has a lot of light, steel doors, oak floor, industrial lamps and an industrial fireplace.
We came up with a beautiful kitchen design with black oiled fronts and a crispy white kitchen top. This all with shiny but very functional appliances from Bosch. The peninsula kitchen island gives a nice view to the living room and has a high range hood. This range hood is a ceiling unit that hangs quite a distance from the stove. Because of its extra capacity this is ideal. Wave and Novy provide perfect solutions in the average/high price range.
The kitchen top and integrated sink are made in white composite from Levantina, but Silestone has the same solutions.
The fronts and doors are made in a thicker oak veneer. The oil is from Monocoat and is pre-colored in black.
The result is stunning. The black contrasts sharp with the white top whereas the oak structure in the wood goes well with the oak floor and the black color goes perfect with the steel elements in the beautifully decorated house. The drawers and doors are made without grips. This adds to the functional but in the same time minimalistic outlook of the custom made kitchen.
The backwall of the kitchen was a great design solution. In most versions the backwall was designed as one block. This came out very dark and too much as one massive block. By adding a normal wall in white we broke the backwall space and created a contrast attracting the eye to the black cabinet part whereas we would not divide it the whole cabinet would disappear.
The right wall has an open feeling by just adding simple thick shelves in the color of the wall. It gives an open look and feel but also serves to give this typical kitchen feel by placing food, china and othe utensils. The kitchen island speaks for itself. Here you cook while looking and interacting with the rest of the house while your guests can enjoy a nice glass of wine. In the same time you can easily use the island to have and to serve the breakfast.
In the meanwhile also take a closer look to the rest of the well combined interior with industrial lamps, an amazing oak table and steel doors. The steel doors give space, light and this vintage industrial outlook of the space.
We truly hope you enjoy the style and design. Great in its simple use of colors and functionality. Not too much not too little but there is the strength of this unique kitchen design.
